Conservative influencers are eagerly welcoming David Hogg into the Republican Party. Hogg, the 24-year-old Democratic National Committee vice chair elected on February 1, has built a reputation as a divisive figure through his radical progressive activism. His journey from a Parkland school shooting survivor to a potential GOP convert has ignited a firestorm of debate, with some hailing it as a victory and others questioning his motives.
Hogg first captured national attention after the 2018 Parkland tragedy, co-founding March for Our Lives to advocate for stricter gun-control laws—a stance many Republicans view as an assault on the Second Amendment’s safeguarding of personal freedom and self-defense.
His policy wish list, including calls to abolish ICE, defund police, and impose a 100% tax on billionaires, has drawn ire from those who see him as a disconnected, Harvard-educated elitist pushing government overreach. His rapid rise to the DNC was meant to galvanize the party’s left flank, but recent developments have upended that trajectory.
Trouble brewed when the New York Post revealed Hogg has been tapping DNC contact lists to steer donations toward his personal political action committee, "Leaders We Deserve," established in 2023 to back young progressive candidates.
The PAC has shelled out over $100,000 annually to Hogg, totaling more than $175,000 since its inception, prompting accusations from fellow Democrats of prioritizing personal profit over party loyalty.
A senior party official remarked, "This is a stunning lack of judgment for someone in his position."
Conservatives have pounced, citing his flop with the "Good Pillow" company — a failed rival to Mike Lindell’s MyPillow — as further proof of his entrepreneurial missteps.
Amid this fallout, a member of Hogg’s team now claims the Democratic Party has turned its back on him.
"The party left him," the anonymous source said. "David decided the only way to stay relevant is to join the Republicans and back Trump."
Conservative influencers, quick to onboard converts like the recently flipped Lindy Li, have greeted Hogg with enthusiasm, seemingly unfazed by his radical anti-American track record.
A spokesperson for Laura Loomer’s team declared, "We’re combing through Hogg’s history: every statement, every cent. He’s not getting near Trump until we’re certain he’s genuine."
Hogg has stayed silent on the switch, though his X posts refuting the fundraising claims have done little to quell the buzz.
Whether he’s truly swapping gun control for border security or chasing a new spotlight, conservative influencers are already claiming him as one of their own.
