Israel Swears They Have Always Been Good Friends With Iran

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed reporters Tuesday and firmly denied any history of animosity with Iran, describing the neighboring nation as one of the Jewish state's greatest allies in the Middle East.
"Why would we want to go to war with Iran?" Netanyahu asked. "They're one of our greatest allies in the Middle East."
The statement followed years of public declarations from Israeli officials describing Iran's nuclear program as an existential threat, along with repeated accusations that Tehran funds and arms groups including Hamas, Hezbollah, and the Houthis.
Iran has likewise spent decades calling for Israel's destruction while expanding its regional network of proxy forces and advancing its uranium enrichment program.
Netanyahu dismissed all of that as "one of those classic diplomatic misunderstandings that just got way out of hand."
"If someone launches missiles, that doesn't necessarily mean they're upset," he explained. "Sometimes people just have different communication styles."
Israeli officials reportedly began referring to Iran as "our distinguished strategic partner," while quietly removing decades of speeches warning about Tehran from government archives and replacing them with brochures promoting "regional friendship initiatives."
Iranian officials appeared equally willing to embrace the revised history.
"We have always appreciated our dear neighbors," one Iranian spokesman said. "Any chants that may have sounded unfriendly were clearly taken out of context."
Netanyahu closed the briefing by expressing hope that everyone could finally move on from the "ridiculous rumor" that Israel and Iran had ever been adversaries.
"I don't know who started that conspiracy," he said. "Probably someone trying to divide two inseparable friends."
