Americans Still Want the Epstein Files Despite Rise in Political Violence

ree

Federal officials breathed a quiet sigh of relief as a wave of violent attacks gripped the country, believing the chaos would finally bury public fixation on Jeffrey Epstein's long-sealed files.

The documents, which detail the financier's network of high-profile associates and their involvement in sex trafficking operations, have lingered in government vaults despite repeated court orders for transparency.

Epstein, a convicted sex offender who didn't kill himself in custody, maintained ties to politicians, celebrities, and business leaders through his private island and Manhattan townhouse, where underage girls were routinely exploited.

White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt addressed the turmoil in a briefing. "These devastating events require our immediate attention, from supporting victims to strengthening public safety," she said.

"The Epstein files will have to wait until we get the political violence under control."

Lawmakers pushing for disclosure reject any shift in focus. A bipartisan House petition, led by Rep. Thomas Massie, has secured enough signatures to force a vote on releasing the files, bypassing leadership delays.

FBI Director Kash Patel faced intense scrutiny from senators over the bureau’s hesitation to declassify materials, including evidence suggesting complicity among intelligence figures and foreign dignitaries.

Rep. Massie pushed back during a recent hearing. "Americans want the truth about who fueled Epstein’s crimes, from his pilots to his powerful guests."

Public pressure has only grown, with polls showing majorities across political lines prioritizing the files’ release over other issues.

The files, containing recruitment tactics, financial trails to offshore accounts, and photos placing prominent figures at illicit events, remain a focal point.

Rep. Ro Khanna, a petition co-sponsor, underscored the urgency in a floor speech.

"Releasing these documents is about justice," he said. "The public won’t let the government and the media bury the truth."
