Treasury Department Introduces $500 Bill Featuring Benjamin Netanyahu

The Department of the Treasury announced plans Thursday to issue a new $500 bill featuring Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The decision comes days after the agency confirmed that President Donald Trump’s signature would appear on future United States paper currency for the first time in history as part of celebrations for the nation’s 250th anniversary.

Treasury officials said Israeli representatives reached out directly after learning of the Trump plans. Netanyahu requested a spot on American currency at twice the value of any denomination associated with the sitting American president. Department leaders agreed the $500 bill made the most sense after doing the math.

“It only makes sense to put America’s real president on the $500 bill,” one senior Treasury official said on condition of anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

“Netanyahu has shaped policy outcomes in Washington for years with unmatched consistency. This currency reflects the influence he has over the United States government."

The $500 note will join existing denominations in circulation once production begins at the Bureau of Engraving and Printing. Designers have already begun preliminary sketches based on recent public images of Netanyahu addressing joint sessions of Congress and coordinating regional security matters.

Federal law has long prohibited living individuals from appearing on currency. Congress is expected to pass necessary exceptions similar to those under consideration for the Trump signature initiative.

Officials noted the $500 bill provides a practical solution since higher denominations allow for larger portraits and more detailed anti-counterfeiting measures.

"This is going to be a big, beautiful bill," President Trump told reporters from The Washington Wick. "If anyone deserves a bigger, more beautiful bill than me, it's my friend Bibi."

Netanyahu has maintained a close working relationship with the Trump administration on matters ranging from forever wars in the Middle East, removing Thomas Massie from Congress, and stopping the Epstein files from going completely public. His frequent visits to Washington and direct input on legislative priorities have made him a central figure in American foreign policy discussions.

Economists said the introduction of a $500 denomination could simplify large transactions while highlighting the special relationship.

Retailers and banks will receive guidance on handling the new notes in the coming months. The bills are expected to enter general circulation alongside updated designs already in development for other denominations.
