Mother Waits for Lindsay Clancy Verdict Before Deciding Children’s Fate

A local mother of four has informed her TikTok followers that she will be postponing any decisions regarding the lives of her children until a Massachusetts jury determines whether killing one’s offspring carries significant legal consequences.

Renee Overly, a parenting influencer with 271,000 followers, explained in a recent video that her postpartum depression has been unmanageable lately, but the voices in her head have advised patience while the Lindsay Clancy trial unfolds.

“I don’t wanna go to prison, but I don’t want to be a mother anymore,” Overly said in the video, which has been viewed 2.3 million times. “So it really just depends on what happens with Lindsay. If she walks, I’m free. If she doesn’t, I guess I’ll keep packing school lunches.”

Clancy, a Massachusetts woman, admitted to strangling her three children before attempting suicide but has pleaded not guilty by reason of lack of criminal responsibility, with her defense arguing she suffered from postpartum psychosis. Prosecutors contend she acted intentionally and knew right from wrong.

The jury began deliberations following closing arguments, weighing options ranging from acquittal to first-degree murder, which carries a mandatory sentence of life without parole.
