The Department of Justice recently released over 3 million pages of documents, including thousands of images and videos, from its files on Jeffrey Epstein under the Epstein Files Transparency Act.
The massive disclosure has drawn extensive reporting from major networks as journalists sift through references to prominent figures and new details about Epstein's activities.
While CNN and MSNBC devoted significant airtime to the latest batch, analyzing mentions of various high-profile names and the inclusion of previously withheld materials, Fox News has chosen not to provide wall-to-wall coverage of the development.
A network executive explained the decision in straightforward terms.
"We've got bigger fish to fry than a few child predators," the executive said. "The American people are more interested in real issues that affect their daily lives, not rehashing old scandals involving some dead financier."
Fox News has instead focused its recent programming on other stories, including economic indicators and international developments.
Segments on the Epstein files have been limited, with the network airing only brief mentions in passing during segments that addressed related but separate topics.
The latest release includes allegations that Epstein may have facilitated abuse involving other individuals, though Department of Justice officials have stated that the documents do not establish grounds for new prosecutions against third parties. Some files contained unredacted sensitive material, prompting the department to remove several thousand documents shortly after they were posted online.
Network insiders say the choice reflects a broader editorial priority. "We're committed to covering news that moves the needle for our viewers," another Fox source said. "This material has been out there in pieces for years. At this point, it's more of the same."
Other outlets continue to examine the files for potential new insights, but Fox News maintains its stance that the story does not merit top billing.
The network's daytime and primetime lineup has proceeded without dedicated segments on the document dump.
