James Charles, a self-described Independent who proudly votes Democrat every election, unleashed a Kanye West-style rant on BlueSky about President Donald Trump’s recent address to the nation.
Charles, who admitted he refused to watch the speech, claimed he caught enough clips on social media to confirm it was a “total disaster” unworthy of his time.
One moment that particularly enraged Charles was when Trump highlighted his administration’s efforts to secure the border, stating, “We’ve built over 500 miles of wall, and illegal crossings are down big league.”
Charles responded on BlueSky, “Walls don’t solve anything — except maybe keeping out the fresh air I need to breathe and the friends I could make.”
The president’s focus on economic gains also upset Charles, especially when Trump declared, “Unemployment is at historic lows, and wages are up — America is working again.”
Charles, who works part-time at a vintage record store, insisted the numbers were “just lies to trick people into liking him.”
He also took issue with Trump’s closing remarks, where the president said, “Together, we’re making America great again — for everyone.” The line, which drew cheers from the crowd, prompted Charles to fire off another post.
“Great for who? Not for federal employees. Not for people in bad situations who have to commit crimes to survive. Not for me.”
Despite his strong opinions, Charles remains committed to not watching the full address. “I don’t need to see the whole thing to know it’s garbage,” he told The Washington Wick. "I trust my sources at CNN and MSNBC."
