Lindsay Clancy Tells Fans She’s Ready for More Children

PLYMOUTH, Mass. — Lindsay Clancy has written a public letter to her fans from the psychiatric hospital where she is being held, telling them she is ready to have more children.

“Children are such a blessing. I’m ready to start having babies again once this sham trial is over,” Clancy wrote.

Clancy, a former labor and delivery nurse, used exercise bands to strangle her three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan, in the basement of the family’s Duxbury home while her husband was out picking up takeout and medication. She then cut herself and jumped from a second-story window.

She remains paralyzed from the waist down and is charged with three counts of first-degree murder.

A jury deadlocked after weeks of testimony about postpartum psychosis and seven days of deliberations. A judge declared a mistrial, and Clancy remains held without bail at Tewksbury Hospital. Prosecutors have not said whether they will retry the case, but a hearing on next steps is scheduled later this month.

In the letter, Clancy said the interruption to her family life has been temporary. “A house is not a home without little feet,” she wrote. “I miss the noise. I miss the bedtime stories. I miss being needed.” She added that she has been thinking about names and that she already knows how she would arrange the nursery.

“I was always meant to be a mother,” Clancy wrote. “That does not change because of one bad afternoon.” She described the trial as a misunderstanding that would eventually be cleared up so she could get back to the work she was born to do.

Hospital staff who handle inmate correspondence confirmed the letter was mailed. “She asked for extra paper,” one employee said. “She said she had a lot to tell people about the future.”

Clancy wrote that she has been practicing breathing exercises and visualizing a full house. “I can already hear them laughing,” she wrote. “That is the sound I want to wake up to.” She told fans not to worry about logistics.

“God will provide the children. I will provide the love.”

A clerk who processed outgoing mail said the envelope was addressed to a public list of supporters. “She wanted it out there,” the clerk said. “She said people deserved to know she was still planning a family.”

Clancy closed the letter by asking fans to keep praying for a swift end to the proceedings.

“When this is finished, I am going to fill a house again,” she wrote. “That is the only thing I have ever wanted.”
