New Activist Group 'Somalian Lives Matter' Rallies to Defend Daycare Fraud Suspects in Minnesota

A new activist group calling itself Somalian Lives Matter took to the streets of Minneapolis after federal immigration agents shot and killed a woman during an operation tied to allegations of widespread fraud in childcare programs.

The group formed almost immediately in response to the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good, who attempted to run over agents with her vehicle while they conducted enforcement actions.

Organizers of Somalian Lives Matter declared that their mission centers on protecting members of the Somali community involved in the ongoing federal investigations into childcare centers accused of billing for services never provided.

“The only life that matters right now is that of a Somalian,” said lead organizer Fatima Hassan, standing before a crowd waving signs outside the site of the shooting. "We are America now."

Hassan explained that the group aims to stand in solidarity with daycare operators facing scrutiny, even in cases where facilities appeared empty during unannounced visits by investigators.

Federal authorities have deployed thousands of agents to the area as part of a large-scale operation examining claims that some Somali-run childcare centers submitted fraudulent reimbursement requests for meals and care that did not occur. Many of the centers reportedly showed no children present when checked.

“We will protect every daycare owner, regardless of whether they have children enrolled or not,” Hassan added.

Another speaker at the rally, community advocate Ahmed Noor, emphasized the need to shield those under investigation from what he called aggressive federal tactics.

Noor told the gathering that the shooting of Good highlighted the dangers faced by the community when authorities pursue fraud allegations too vigorously.

The operation stems from broader probes into Minnesota programs where prosecutors have charged dozens with stealing hundreds of millions in funds meant for child nutrition and care. Most defendants in those cases come from the state's Somali population.

Hassan concluded the event by calling for continued riots until federal agents leave the area and investigations halt, in hopes of sparking a second Civil War.
