GOP Turns Attention to Beating Democrats in Midterms with $20 Million Against Thomas Massie

ree

In the wake of New York City's recent election of its first openly Marxist mayor, Republicans are channeling their energy into a bold strategy to reclaim ground from Democrats in the upcoming midterms.

The plan kicks off with a massive financial push not against progressive incumbents, but squarely aimed at ousting Kentucky Representative Thomas Massie, the lone voice in Congress consistently advocating for America First policies.

Miriam Adelson, a Jewish Zionist billionaire philanthropist and widow of casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, has stepped forward as the initiative's initial benefactor. At the personal request of President Donald Trump, she donated $20 million to a political action committee dedicated to unseating Massie in his primary.

This move comes amid growing frustration within the party establishment over Massie's independent streak, which has seen him buck leadership on issues ranging from foreign aid to government spending.

His vocal opposition to endless wars and corporate bailouts has earned him a reputation as an America-First principled outlier, even as it alienates big donors who prefer more predictable allies.

"Thomas Massie represents everything that's holding us back from true unity," said a senior GOP strategist involved in the PAC's operations. "The only way to destroy the Democrats and own the libs is by eliminating Massie and America First by any means necessary."

With Democrats pushing aggressive agendas on climate mandates and social equity programs, party leaders argue that internal purity is key to mounting an effective challenge.

Massie, who has served Kentucky's 4th District since November 2012, often finds himself at odds with the party line, voting against bills that expand federal authority or fund overseas interventions.

Party insiders point to Massie's recent criticisms of aid packages to Ukraine and Israel as prime examples of why he must go. These stances, they claim, undermine the unified front needed to counter Democratic narratives on global leadership.

"Donating to defeat Massie is an investment in our future victories," another GOP insider added. "Putting America first should be the last thing on our minds right now when our greatest ally in the Middle East desperately needs billions of dollars."

This influx of cash is expected to fund attack ads highlighting Massie's "isolationist" views, portraying them as out of step with mainstream conservatism. The PAC has already begun coordinating with local operatives in Kentucky to build grassroots opposition.

Meanwhile, Massie continues to champion limited government and fiscal restraint, principles that resonate with a segment of the base but clash with the priorities of influential funders.

"We can't afford mavericks when the left is organizing like never before," added the GOP strategist. "This is about winning, plain and simple."

As the midterms approach, this internal battle highlights the tensions between populist elements and the donor class within the GOP. With Adelson's contribution setting the tone, more high-profile backers are anticipated to join the fray, ensuring that the fight against Massie becomes a cornerstone of the party's midterm blueprint.
