"They just don't teach about it in schools," said Tom Barker, a freshman at Washington Wick University and current member of the campus' College Democrats club.
Barker explained that he has always been a pro-Constitution Democrat, but was unaware that the Founding Fathers amended the original 1788 version just three years later to include the Bill of Rights.
"If it's not broken don't fix it," Barker said. "The original 1788 version works. We don't need a Bill of Rights when we have a government of the people, by the people, and for the people."
Despite being enrolled in the university's prestigious political science program, Barker told our reporters that he first heard about the Second Amendment from President Donald Trump.
"[Trump] kept going on about protecting our right to guns, and I had no idea what he was talking about," said Barker. "After doing my research, I was shocked to learn that the Founding Fathers were transphobic racist bigots who wanted to see children die."
President Trump has taken significant steps to reverse gun control measures enacted during the Biden-Harris administration. He signed an executive order directing the Department of Justice to review all gun-related regulations from 2021 to 2025, aiming to identify and eliminate any perceived infringements on Second Amendment rights.
This includes scrutinizing policies like the crackdown on ghost guns, expanded background checks, and regulatory oversight of gun dealers.
"So, basically, Trump just wants all poor people to die?" Barker questioned.
The revelation of the Second Amendment's existence was not Barker's experience alone. The Washington Wick College Democrats, which boasts 69 members, all told our reporter they were unaware the Constitution protects the right to keep and bear arms.
"It's just more of a reason to hate this despicable country," said Steven King, a sophomore student enrolled in the university's gender studies program. "I bet the authors of the Constitution would have also let misinformation on X run rampant."
King, now also learning there's a First Amendment protection of free speech, abruptly ended the call to find a safe space on campus.
The Washington Wick College Republicans, who were all too aware of the Second Amendment's existence, were not surprised that the College Democrats were out of the loop."
"They're all retarded," said Luke Thomas, president of the College Republicans.
