Netflix is set to release a biographical film featuring a white actor in the role of a white historical figure, marking a significant departure from their previous casting practices.
The decision comes in the wake of President Donald Trump's initiative to dismantle Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) programs.
The streaming giant has traditionally favored casting minority actors in roles originally portrayed by or depicting white historical figures, a move they've justified as promoting inclusivity.
However, with the new policy, Netflix plans to release this yet-to-be-named biopic on March 1st, 2026, immediately following Black History Month.
