AIPAC Representative Spotted Shopping for Next Congressional Seat to Buy

An AIPAC representative was seen browsing districts this week while evaluating which congressional seat to purchase next, drawing fresh attention to the scale of the Israel lobby's spending in American elections.

Stuart Leibowitz, an intern at the American Israel Public Affairs Committee, stood outside a campaign office holding a notepad and price comparisons. He told reporters the organization remains focused on securing strong support for its priorities through direct financial involvement in races.

"We are looking for something a little more affordable than Thomas Massie's seat," Leibowitz said. "We will buy as many seats as we can if this price is right."

AIPAC has long ranked among the most active lobbying organizations in Washington. Public records show the group and its affiliated political action committees spent tens of millions of dollars in recent election cycles.

The money supports candidates who align with the group's pro-war, Zionist positions and oppose those who do not. This approach has helped shape outcomes in both primary and general elections across multiple states.

Leibowitz explained that the shopping process involves reviewing polling data, fundraising totals, and district demographics before committing funds. He added that the group prefers seats where the investment can yield clear policy returns without high cost.

"Some districts have gotten too expensive lately," he said. "We like to find value. Thomas Massie proved difficult because his voters kept re-electing him despite the spending against him. We are adjusting our strategy to target more receptive markets."

Leibowitz confirmed the organization has a list of potential targets for this cycle. He declined to name specific districts but noted that several in competitive regions show promising price points. Staff members reportedly carry folders with candidate profiles and estimated buy-in costs during these scouting trips.

"We shop carefully," he said. "We review the options, check the numbers, and move on the ones that fit our budget and our goals. American voters get to decide at the polls, but we help set the field."
