Dr. Anthony Fauci, once America's leading infectious disease expert, resides in his Georgetown home, surrounded by the trappings of his long career. Amidst recent rumors that Russian President Vladimir Putin might seek his extradition on charges related to his handling of pandemics and controversial research, Fauci remains unbothered.

"I've heard the rumors," Fauci stated in an interview, displaying a calm demeanor. "What's in the past is in the past. I am not losing sleep over this."

Fauci's career has been marked by significant events, including his role during the AIDS crisis.

Critics have often pointed to the slow pace of response and perceived lack of empathy towards those affected.

"I was doing science," he explained, "If some people were unhappy with the speed of progress, they could have attempted to address it themselves. I am the science."

The discussion then moved to his involvement in gain-of-function research, which has been controversial due to safety concerns. "I see no reason to be concerned about these accusations," Fauci said. "I did exactly what I was told to do when I was told to do it."

Regarding his role during the COVID-19 pandemic, Fauci defended his actions.

"I was the public face of our response. I got to go on talk shows. I got to hang out with celebrities. I even once attended a P. Diddy party. People made songs about me. If everybody loved me then, how could I have been wrong now?"

Social media users seemed torn on their feelings towards Fauci. One user claimed the former director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) at the National Institutes of Health is retarded, while others acknowledged that Fauci isn't mentally challenged, he's a highly intelligent corrupt criminal who destroyed millions of lives.

Fauci, who seems to have let former President Joe Biden's last-minute presidential pardon go to his head, believes he is untouchable as the highest-paid federal government employee in American history.

"Putin wants to extradite me?" Fauci laughed. "You know how much money I made? Get my wallet, I'll show you. I could buy Russia if I really wanted to."

Russia President Vladimir Putin could not be reached for comment.

When asked if Fauci has any regrets, he responded, "Sure. I regret not funding a lab in Russia."

Fauci's future might look grim, but by all indications, he is unbothered by what has been and is looking forward to what can be.
