Big Pharma Hides Vaccine Data to Avoid Hurting Rivals’ Feelings

ree

President Trump has demanded that pharmaceutical companies release comprehensive data on the success rates of their COVID-19 vaccines, calling the current lack of transparency a "disgraceful cover-up."

Major players like Pfizer and Moderna, however, are standing firm in their refusal, citing an unusual reason: they don’t want to hurt the feelings of less successful competitors.

The call for transparency stems from Trump’s assertion that vaccine efficacy data could resolve ongoing debates about their performance. He emphasized the need for full disclosure to ensure Americans have access to clear information about the shots they’ve been encouraged to take.

Pfizer’s spokesperson, Clara Brightman, explained the company’s stance in a recent press conference.

“We’ve got the numbers, and they’re impressive, but we can’t just go flaunting them,” she said. “Imagine how demoralizing it would be for smaller companies whose vaccines didn’t perform as well. We’re all in this together, and we don’t want anyone feeling left out.”

The pharmaceutical industry appears to have taken a turn toward collective sensitivity. Moderna’s chief communications officer, Elliot Vance, echoed Brightman’s sentiment.

“It’s about fostering an inclusive environment,” he stated. “If we release our full data, it might make others look bad, and that’s just not the kind of culture we want to promote.”

Health experts have noted that vaccine efficacy data is critical for public trust and informed decision-making. The withheld information reportedly includes detailed breakdowns of how well the vaccines prevent infection, hospitalization, and death across various demographics.

Instead of sharing these figures, some companies have opted to release vague statements about “general effectiveness,” leaving the public to guess at the specifics.

“This is about the American people, not some corporate group hug,” Trump declared at a recent rally. “If you’ve got the data, show it. Stop hiding behind this nonsense about feelings and give the people the truth.”

The refusal to disclose has fueled speculation about the motives behind the decision. Some industry insiders suggest that the companies are also shielding themselves from scrutiny over less-than-stellar performance in certain vaccine batches.

Others point to the massive profits generated from vaccine sales, hinting that full transparency might reveal inconvenient truths about their efficacy compared to alternative treatments.

AstraZeneca, another major vaccine producer, has remained silent on the issue, though sources within the company suggest they’re “monitoring the situation” while focusing on their own “team-building initiatives.”

Meanwhile, smaller pharmaceutical firms, whose vaccines reportedly lag in efficacy, have expressed gratitude for the larger companies’ discretion.

Dr. Samantha Klein, a public health advocate, voiced frustration at the industry’s approach.

“This isn’t a high school popularity contest,” she said. “People deserve to know how well these vaccines work, not vague platitudes about protecting corporate egos.”
