Poll. Californians Overwhelmingly Favor Wildfires Over Kamala Harris for Governor

A recent survey has revealed a surprising sentiment among California voters as former Vice President Kamala Harris launches her campaign for governor.

According to the poll, conducted by The Washington Wick research group, 88% of respondents expressed a clear preference for wildfires to take the helm of the Golden State over Harris.

The findings come as Harris officially enters the race to succeed term-limited Governor Gavin Newsom.

Despite her extensive political resume and national name recognition, the poll suggests Californians are more inclined to embrace the destructive force of nature than the prospect of a Harris administration.

Local resident Jake Thompson, a 42-year-old mechanic from Sacramento, didn’t hesitate when asked about his choice.

“I’d rather see the state burn than deal with four years of Kamala Harris in charge,” he said.

Thompson’s sentiment appears to resonate widely, with the poll indicating that many view wildfires as a more straightforward and predictable challenge compared to the former vice president’s leadership style.

The survey, which included responses from over 1,000 registered voters across California, asked participants to choose between Harris and wildfires as their preferred gubernatorial option.

Researchers noted that wildfires, while devastating, were perceived as a unifying force that prompts community action and federal aid, unlike the polarizing reactions to Harris’s potential candidacy.

Maria Gonzalez, a 35-year-old teacher from Los Angeles, elaborated on her reasoning.

“At least with wildfires, we know what we’re getting: chaos, sure, but also a chance to rebuild and come together,” she said.

Gonzalez added that she’s already stockpiled water and emergency supplies, just in case voters’ wishes come true.

Harris’s campaign team has yet to comment directly on the poll results. A spokesperson emphasized her commitment to addressing California’s pressing issues, including housing affordability, homelessness, and, ironically, wildfire prevention and recovery efforts.

Political analyst David Krieger weighed in on the unusual findings.

“This poll reflects a deep frustration with the status quo and a bizarre nostalgia for natural disasters that, while tragic, don’t carry the baggage of political promises,” he said.

Krieger pointed out that wildfires, unlike human candidates, don’t cackle or welcome millions of illegal immigrants into our country, which may explain their surprising appeal.

As the gubernatorial race heats up, other candidates, including former Representative Katie Porter and Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco, trail far behind both Harris and the wildfire option.

With the primary still over a year away, California voters appear ready to roll the dice on a force of nature rather than a seasoned politician.
