Man Fired from Job After Being Mentioned in Epstein Files Finds New Career in Federal Government

A New Jersey man who lost his position as chief executive of a major information technology firm following revelations in the Epstein files has accepted an unelected role in the federal government, officials confirmed.

Larry Adelson, 58, was removed from his post at Horizon Data Solutions after court documents recently released by the Justice Department detailed his longstanding social and business ties to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender whose network included numerous prominent figures.

The files included correspondence and travel records showing Adelson's repeated interactions with Epstein over several years, including invitations to private events and shared investment discussions.

Company representatives stated that the decision to part ways with Adelson followed an internal review of newly public material that highlighted the extent of his association with Epstein.

Adelson had led Horizon Data Solutions for more than a decade, overseeing contracts in cybersecurity and government data management.

Within days of his departure, Adelson was appointed special advisor to the Office of Federal Digital Resilience, a little-known division within the Department of Homeland Security responsible for coordinating private-sector partnerships on infrastructure protection and emergency response protocols.

The position does not require Senate confirmation and reports directly to senior appointees.

A department spokesperson described the hire as routine, noting Adelson's extensive experience in information technology and his familiarity with federal contracting processes.

"Mr. Adelson brings valuable expertise to our efforts in safeguarding critical systems," the spokesperson said in a prepared statement. "His background aligns perfectly with the office's mission."

Adelson declined to comment through representatives, but sources close to the appointment process said he viewed the role as an opportunity to apply his skills in a new context following the abrupt end to his corporate tenure.

The Epstein files, which continue to generate public interest through ongoing releases, have included references to a range of business leaders, politicians, and celebrities. Adelson's name appeared in email exchanges and flight logs connected to Epstein's private travel.

The swift transition from private-sector executive to federal advisor has highlighted the revolving door between corporate leadership and government roles, particularly in technology and national security.

Adelson's new role grants him access to classified briefings on digital threats and influence over policy recommendations for public-private collaboration.

Industry observers noted that such moves are not uncommon for executives with specialized knowledge, even amid controversy. Adelson's appointment took effect immediately, allowing him to begin work on upcoming initiatives related to cyber resilience planning.
