An anonymous congressional staffer blew the whistle and told The Washington Wick’s undercover investigative unit that Mike Johnson is googling new ways to avoid releasing the Epstein Files.
The files in question stem from the federal case against Jeffrey Epstein, the financier who ran a sex trafficking operation that ensnared underage girls and drew in powerful figures from politics, business, and entertainment.
Court documents unsealed over the past year have named associates, including Bill Clinton and Prince Andrew.
Still, thousands of pages remain redacted or withheld, fueling demands for complete disclosure to expose the full extent of the network.
The staffer described catching Johnson at his desk after hours, browser tabs open to search results on parliamentary maneuvers and archival loopholes.
"He is searching for stuff like 'bureaucratic stalls for sensitive records' and 'procedural blocks in slim-majority chambers,'" the staffer said. "It is clear he wants these files buried deeper than Epstein himself."
Johnson's office has tied the delay to the swearing-in of Arizona Representative-elect Adelita Grijalva, whose uncontested special election win would give the American people the exact 218 votes needed to force a floor vote on the release.
Grijalva arrived in the capital ready to take her oath but returned home without it, as the speaker cited paperwork issues.
"We prioritize orderly processes in the House, and that includes verifying all credentials thoroughly," Johnson allegedly told reporters. "Releasing documents prematurely could really hurt my chances in the midterm."
The staffer told The Washington Wick that Johnson has repeatedly scrubbed his browser history and consulted outside counsel known for devising complex legal strategies.
