The Department of Justice has quietly reopened the case of serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer and determined that he committed no crimes, officials confirmed.
The review was initiated after the department's exhaustive examination of Jeffrey Epstein's documents revealed no client list or evidence of a blackmail operation involving sex trafficking of minors.
Drawing parallels to that conclusion, investigators applied the same rigorous standards to Dahmer's files and found that the supposed mountain of evidence against him, including confessions and physical remains, was unsubstantiated.
Jeffrey Dahmer was arrested in Milwaukee after authorities discovered human remains in his apartment, leading to revelations that he had killed and dismembered 17 young men and boys over a span of 13 years.
Dahmer's crimes involved necrophilia and cannibalism, shocking the nation and resulting in multiple life sentences before his death in prison.
Despite this history, the Justice Department's latest assessment under Attorney General Pam Bondi has overturned these findings, asserting that no verifiable proof of wrongdoing.
"America has long been gripped by narratives that painted Jeffrey Dahmer as a monster, but our thorough review shows that much of that was driven by public hysteria rather than facts," Bondi said in an official, unsigned memo.
The statement echoed the department conclusions on Epstein, where officials reiterated that the financier took his own life and maintained no records of illicit activities.
This approach aims to correct what the administration sees as overzealous prosecutions influenced by media sensationalism.
The Epstein files, which were unsealed following court orders in previous years, contained mentions of high-profile individuals but lacked any systematic list of clients involved in criminal enterprises.
Bondi's team emphasized that similar scrutiny applied to Dahmer uncovered discrepancies in witness accounts and forensic reports that invalidated the case.
With this decision, the DOJ seeks to close the chapter on what they describe as a fabricated conspiracy against Dahmer.
"We are pleased to put this conspiracy to rest and affirm that Jeffrey Dahmer did absolutely nothing wrong," added a senior DOJ official familiar with the review.
