The White House picnic will proceed without one notable guest: Elon Musk.
The billionaire entrepreneur, whose recent apology for claims about President Donald Trump failed to secure him an invitation, remains excluded from the festivities.
Musk had suggested Trump was involved in a child trafficking operation with Jeffrey Epstein. His subsequent retraction, posted on X, emphasized his intent to “clear the air” and focus on “truth-seeking.”
Trump posted to Truth Social, “I’m going to drop a really big bomb. Elon Musk and his family are NOT invited to the BIG, BEAUTIFUL White House Picnic. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!”
The White House picnic, a tradition dating back decades, is a carefully curated affair. Attendees typically include lawmakers, business leaders, and select cultural figures, all dining under the watchful eye of Secret Service agents.
Musk, who has attended similar events in the past, reportedly expressed disappointment over the snub.
“The White House has the best food,” Musk told reporters outside a Tesla factory. “Their catering team is unmatched, and I was really looking forward to the coleslaw.”
White House officials have remained tight-lipped about the guest list. A spokesperson confirmed only that invitations were extended based on “alignment with national priorities.”
The decision follows months of strained relations between Musk and the administration. Musk’s X platform has faced scrutiny for amplifying controversial narratives, while his public statements have occasionally clashed with Trump’s agenda.
For his part, Trump has leaned into the exclusion. “Elon is doing great, so great, with his rockets and tweets,” the president said at a recent rally. “He doesn't want to be bothered with a picnic as big and beautiful as this.”
The comment drew cheers from the crowd, many of whom were also not invited to The White House picnic.
Musk has pivoted to other ventures. Sources close to the billionaire say he’s planning a rival event at SpaceX headquarters, complete with White Claws and a live rocket launch.
“I don’t need their picnic,” Musk reportedly told aides. “I’ll make my own, and it’ll be out of this world.”
The White House has not commented on Musk’s counter-event. As the picnic approaches, the administration is focused on projecting unity and strength.
