Elon Musk Misses Mark on Social Security, 158-Year-Old Man Argues

Writer: Chadwick DolgosChadwick Dolgos

The Washington Wick has uncovered perhaps the most unlikely critic of tech mogul Elon Musk's recent comments on Social Security: Ezekiel Barnabus, a 158-year-old man. Born in 1867, Barnabus remembers the Reconstruction Era and now finds himself at odds with Musk's understanding of longevity and social benefits.

Musk's revelation that some recipients of Social Security are over 100 years old has stirred debate, but Barnabus feels particularly slighted.

"In my youth, we didn't have these fancy contraptions like the internet or cryptocurrencies," Barnabus remarked. "But we did know the value of hard work and respect for our elders, something Mr. Musk seems to have overlooked."

Barnabus, who has lived through numerous technological, social, and political revolutions, argues that Musk's understanding of Social Security is not just flawed but also dismissive of those who have seen the world change more than most.

"I was a child when the nation was rebuilding from the Civil War," he continued, "and now, I'm being told my existence is some sort of anomaly by a man playing with rockets and dog coins."

The controversy began when Musk, in a tweet, expressed surprise at the age of some Social Security recipients, suggesting that perhaps the system needed an update. This led to a flurry of responses, including from Barnabus, who contacted The Washington Wick to share his perspective.

"DOGE might be fun for some," he said, "but it does nothing for someone who's seen the world go from horse carriages to electric cars."

Musk has not responded directly to Barnabus's claims, but the conversation has sparked a broader discussion on how modern tech leaders view historical longevity and the responsibilities towards their oldest citizens.

Barnabus's life has been marked by significant historical events, from the invention of the light bulb to the staged moon landing, and his critique of Musk's oversight serves as a reminder of the diverse tapestry of human experience often overlooked in today's fast-paced, tech-driven world.

"I've lived through more than most could imagine," Barnabus concluded, "and Mr. Musk's attempt to rewrite my existence with his digital musings is, frankly, the most modern form of disrespect I've encountered."
