Government officials announced that the 12 Day War, initially expected to conclude swiftly, will now require a precise two-week period to "flatten the curve" of hostilities, following a breakdown in the ceasefire between Israel, Iran, and the United States.
The conflict, which began after a series of diplomatic missteps and a disputed camel race in a neutral zone, has escalated due to what experts call "unprecedented levels of stubbornness."
Data from the United Nations indicates that the war has already caused $2.3 billion in damages and disrupted global hummus supplies by 17%.
General Harold T. Buckwheat, Pentagon spokesperson, addressed the situation in a press briefing.
"Two weeks of intensified operations will ensure a sustainable de-escalation and world peace," he stated.
The ceasefire, announced by U.S. President Donald Trump, was intended to halt hostilities within 24 hours, with Iran ceasing attacks first, followed by Israel 12 hours later.
However, Israel reported Iranian missile launches shortly after the truce began, prompting Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz to order "intense strikes" on Tehran.
Iran’s state media denied firing missiles post-ceasefire, but Israel’s military confirmed the attacks and is preparing to strike back.
Dr. Elizabeth Harper, a Middle East analyst at Georgetown University, provided perspective on the extended timeline.
"Two weeks allows for a recalibration of military and diplomatic strategies," she explained. "Both sides are entrenched, and de-escalation will take time."
The conflict has strained global markets, with oil prices fluctuating after spiking 10% due to fears of supply disruptions.
Civilians in Israel and Iran face ongoing safety concerns, with sirens and airstrikes reported in both nations.
Diplomatic efforts continue, with Qatar attempting to mediate, though no new agreement has been reached.
