Internal Documents Show Media Hoped Shooter Was Straight White Christian Male

A set of internal communications from several major news organizations has surfaced, revealing that top executives expressed a desire for the perpetrator of the Minneapolis school shooting to fit a specific profile.

The documents indicate that this profile would have aligned more closely with ongoing narratives about societal threats.

The shooting took place at Annunciation Catholic School during a morning Mass marking the start of the school year. Two children, an 8-year-old and a 10-year-old, were killed, while 17 others sustained injuries, including several elderly adults in their 80s.

Authorities identified the shooter as 23-year-old transgender Robert Westman, who died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Investigators recovered firearms from multiple residences linked to Westman. A manifesto posted to YouTube shortly before the attack detailed Westman's depression, suicidal ideation, and an obsession with previous mass shooters.

The leaked materials, provided to The Washington Wick by an anonymous insider, include emails and meeting transcripts from network executives. These communications were exchanged in the hours following the incident, as initial reports came in without full details on the shooter's identity.

"This is primed to showcase the rise of white male extremism tied to Christian ideology," one executive wrote in an email chain.

Details about Westman's background began to emerge through social media and family statements. Coverage strategies were quickly revised to emphasize broader issues like firearm access.

"It's Hale all over again. We can't let the identity derail the story on systemic hate against the LGBTQ+ community," another executive stated during a virtual meeting.

Audrey Hale, the transgender individual responsible for the Nashville Christian school shooting that left six dead, saw media attention fade rapidly after personal details were revealed.

Similar patterns have appeared in other cases where shooters did not match expected profiles.

Executives in the documents referenced the need to maintain focus on narratives involving straight white Christian males. They argued that such cases provide clearer links to themes of privilege and radicalization.

"We were counting on this to tie into the bigger picture of white male violence," a third executive commented in a follow-up message.
