Seth Dillon, chief executive of the Babylon Bee, has boarded a flight to Israel in an effort to locate a sense of humor after admitting his satirical output has turned into nothing more than complaining about people he disagrees with.
Sources close to Dillon report that the move comes amid a string of public controversies where, instead of writing comedy, Dillon has turned into a preacher serving as a gatekeeper to the MAGA movement.
Dillon has faced increasing scrutiny over his outspoken defense of Israel First zionism.
"I'm heading to the Holy Land because if anyone knows how to turn tragedy into comedy, it's the people who've been doing it for thousands of years," Dillon told reporters at the airport before departure.
He added that his recent interviews and social media exchanges have felt more like lectures than laughs, prompting the drastic step.
The Babylon Bee has built its reputation on highlighting the excesses of identity politics and government overreach, often through exaggerated headlines that mirror real events too closely for comfort.
A spokesperson for the site, who asked to remain anonymous, noted that Dillon's absence might inspire fresh content upon his return.
"If Seth comes back with even one solid punchline, it'll be worth the entire trip," the spokesperson said.
Dillon plans to visit historical sites and consult with local comedians, hoping to reignite the spark that made the Babylon Bee a staple for readers seeking relief from daily headlines.
